summer loving

Dear All: just to be clear, jane dark's sugarhigh! is in no way defunct. We are pulling an all-nighter that is bound to last all summer. Regular posting will resume in the Fall. In the meantime, just a couple of notes.
• Of all things, "art" is the most variable in its value-density. It's able to bear no value at all, or to bear only the nebulous sub-value of cultural capital; at the far end of the spectrum, the value density of an art object can be thousands of times that of gold, spiraling over a million dollars per ounce. This becomes a way of describing the dialectic of subjectivity and equivalence.
• When neoclassical economists fret over the relation of spot and futures prices, one comes to suspect they are at the same time trying to grasp the analytic yields of the use value/exchange value distinction without having to confront its actualities.
• Lots of good stuff going on recently over here.
• When we grow up, we wish to be correlation traders.
• Also: "I'm going back to Calligrammes."
• Also: snowglobalization.
